This forum was created as an alternative to the /r/maleescorts subreddit, which was banned without warning by Reddit mods about a month ago. We're just getting started, so things are still a bit bare around here. But I'm looking forward to meeting y'all! Please feel free to post here, or to our sister forums !sexworkers (for all sex workers) and !gentlemensclub (client side discussion).
New forums suffer a chicken and egg problem--nobody wants to join empty forum; but an empty forum will remain empty until people join.
So why should you invest time in this forum?
First, this forum is hosted using Hubzilla software. Hubzilla is similar to Mastodon (the software used
by switter.at) in that it is a) open source b) allows for federation with hundreds of other Hubzilla hubs (as well as Mastodon, Diaspora, and other federated networks). So when you create an account here, you can use it to login to all of those other networks.
In terms of features, whereas Switter is Twitter-like, Hubzilla is more like Facebook. There are no character limits on Hubzilla posts, you can upload photos/videos, and host private chats/private forums, among other things. Hubzilla also has robust identity and privacy controls, so you can control at a very fine grained level who can see your posts.
Second, Hubzilla is designed to be censorship resistant. The forum can be synced to multiple hubs easily, so that if one clone is shutdown (either due to censorship or technical problems), the forum can continue on another hub exactly as before.
Third, Huzilla is designed to prevent lockin. If you don't like how things are run here, you can create a forum just like this very easily on another hub. Moreover, you easily clone your personal account to the new hub, and all your connections, posts, and articles will be imported.
So, I hope you'll stay and participate in the community!
